First things first, how good is this weather? I’m loving it. Not so much trying to find something to wear. I don’t really have a summer wardrobe. Although it has inspired me to add a bit of colour. I’m wearing a bright yellow t-shirt today! (You can see it on my Instastories if you’re into that kind of thing.)
Anyway, that’s enough rambling from me. I know what you’re here for. You want the ice lolly eating animals. This isn’t puppies and kittens, if that’s what you’re looking for? This is ZSL London Zoo’s best. Their gorillas and squirrel monkeys.
ZSL London Zoo have been making a variety of icy treats for their different animals.
Critically Endangered Western lowland gorillas Kumbuka, Effie, Zaire and youngsters Alika and Gernot all enjoyed cooling treats made of frozen fruit tea and nuts in their Gorilla Kingdom home.
Also getting in on the icy action, were the Zoo’s troop of Bolivian black-capped squirrel monkeys who enjoyed mini frozen fruit-tea lollies hung up high in the foliage of their In with the Monkeys home.
ZSL keeper Jacob Winfield said: “The animals here at ZSL London Zoo are very much enjoying the warm weather.
“All over the Zoo we’ve been giving out frozen cooling treats – this morning the gorillas have had frozen iced tea cakes with walnuts and the squirrel have enjoyed lollies made from squash and chickpeas.
“Elsewhere the Sumatran tigers have been swimming in their pool and the Asiatic lions have been dipping their toes in their moat whenever they’ve wanted to take a break from basking in the glorious sunshine.”
We all know I love going to the zoo. I have been to London Zoo for a while but I definitely think a trip could be on the cards this summer sometime.
