Life Lately

18/12/2013      Leave a Comment

Life has been pretty hectic lately. Blog Every Day In November got tossed by the wayside and I’ve been a busy little bee. I’ve also been just living all these moments so I don’t even have a whole load of photos to share with you to show you what I’ve been up to. So here’s just a couple…

Life lately

Top: My gorgeous friend Kat (far right) threw a Doctor Who party for The Day Of The Doctor. It was geeky as hell and bloody ace. Bottom left: This is my sister-in-law, Faye (front right) and two of her friends at my birthday drink at Simmons in Kings Cross. Tom and I chose to try to ruin the nice photo. Bottom right: My festive front door.

Work life

I’ve been throwing myself into my new job now that I only have one to do. I was doing two for a while. I’m still not convinced I really know what I’m doing completely but that’s a secret, OK? So yeah, work life has been a little bit mad.

I’ve had a Christmas countdown up in the office since 99 sleeps to go so I’m pretty much the go to girl for anything festive. As a result I’ve been in charge of decorating our corner of the office and organising secret Santa and the Christmas lunch that went with it. Now, I am all organised out and I still haven’t finished wrapping my Christmas presents. Just between you and me, I’m really looking forward to the Christmas break, I’m off until 6th January and I can’t wait to catch up with my sleep.

Social life

I’ve caught up with friends that I haven’t seen in a while which has been really nice. I’ve met friends for drinks, gone to a rather marvellous Doctor Who party at Kat’s and been shopping with friends too. Lots of opportunities to catch up and find out all the gossip I’ve missed out on, being a hermit for the past few months. On top of that I went celebrated my birthday and I proved to be more popular than I thought. I was so happy that so many of my friends made the effort to come out and see me and spoil me.

Wedding planning life

I’ve been powering through my wedding planning recently and it’s very nearly all sorted. Apart from my dress, slightly important missing detail, it’s proving to be a considerably trickier find than I expected. I tried on a few more dresses a couple of weekends ago and my short list has got even longer. It’s not supposed to do that.

Speaking of dresses though, we do finally have bridesmaids dresses sorted. That’s pretty exciting. They’re really nice and the girls say they like them, I just hope that they really do.

I’ve also had all of our invitations printed, I just need to get them all folded up and sent on their way. They won’t be out of the door until well into the new year I don’t think but I am pretty excited about putting them all together.

We also had our engagement shoot at the beginning of December. Tom and I had a brilliant day, I even found a 1950s bar in a junk shop that I have my heart set on. Tom has promised if it is still there in January, we can go back and get it. Chris Barber made us look pretty swish and we were over the moon with the results. In fact, here’s a sneak peek…

Laura and Tom Engagement shootI’d just beaten Tom at rock, paper, scissors for the second or third time.

Laura life

So, there is one more pretty big thing that happened in my life over the past few weeks. I’ve already mentioned that I had my birthday but what I failed to mention is that it was a pretty big birthday. Yep, that’s right I turned 30 on the 3rd December. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what I expected when I turned 30 but I don’t think it’s been as bad as I thought it was going to be. I didn’t want to celebrate it at all, in fact I wanted as few people as possible to know my age but at the end of the day what does it even really mean? I’m trying to convince myself that I don’t look as old as I am, especially as Tom is three and a bit years younger than me. Although, last night I did decide I have Voldemort hands with my long, bony fingers, however Hannah has assured me that my hands are actually elegant and not evil.

Anyway yes, I went home to celebrate my birthday with my parents the weekend before and sat in terror the whole meal. I was convinced my mum had informed the restaurant it was my birthday and I was going to be sung to like the other celebrants in that night. I love doing that to other people but hate it when it happens to me. My actual birthday I spent in work and although everyone was very lovely, I felt like crying the entire day. The weekend following my birthday Hannah and Tom organised some drinks with my friends to celebrate, even though I was against it at first, and I ended up having a lovely night.

All in all, 30 doesn’t really feel any different. I’m not sure how I expected it to feel. I do know that I’m just not ready for such a high number yet and when I’ve filled in things since then and I’ve had to include my age I feel like I’m writing about a whole other person. I think maybe I’ll celebrate it again in a couple of years once I’ve actually got my head round it.

What have you been up to? Fill me in on what I’ve been missing.

Kisses,

lojo
