What Is My Blog All About? #BEDM

01/05/2014      9 Comments

I can’t believe it’s May already. Today is the first day of the Blog Every Day In May challenge with Rosalilium and the topic is What Is My Blog All About? I feel like this is going to be a bit of a self-indulgent blog post based on that so I’m throwing it out there early. Please forgive me.

What makes you happy?

I started Lojo Vs The World on 27th July 2012 after my lovely friend Annie Bean convinced me that blogging was going to help me decide what it was I wanted to do again. I’d not long left my job at Wembley Stadium and before that I was the editor of a music website, Glasswerk and I wasn’t loving my new job. I missed my old life of writing about things I really enjoyed and as a result Lojo Vs The World was born.

I told you she was lovely... sorry for pinching your pic!!

It was particularly neglected in the beginning because I wasn’t sure what I really wanted my blog to be. I read a lot of fashion and beauty blogs and thought that’s what I should be doing even though it didn’t really sit quite right with me. My fashion choices have never been particularly trend following so I realised quite quickly that writing those kind of posts about new trends made me sound disingenuous and not very “real” (I hate that phrase).  I realised that that is what I enjoyed most about the blogs that I read, these bloggers love what they write about.

So that’s exactly what I did. I started to blog about the things I care about; music, cakes and knitting mostly. With this in mind Lojo Vs The World developed into a lifestyle blog. I write about the things I love, the things I do and the places I go. That’s pretty much it. I never even thought anyone would read my blog never mind keep coming back and checking what rubbish I’ve been writing about and for that I will always be grateful.  I just thought it would be a chance for me to keep a record of the things I got up to and a chance to keep improving my writing skills. Now, it’s become a lot more than that. It’s something I really love; I like spending time on it, making changes to try to make it better and pouring time, energy and ideas into it.

So, there we have it. a self-indulgent view of my blog. Sorry and if you’ve actually got this far you deserve 10 cool points or a big gold star or something. Well done! I promise tomorrows will be less self involved and pretentious.

Kisses,

lojo

Not sure what that “Your comment is awaiting moderation” thing is in the middle of my comment but maybe if we keep quiet it will go away…

This really struck a chord with me because I felt like I ‘didn’t know what to write about’ when I first set my blog up too, and for a while it really put me off blogging…but then one day I just thought ‘ah, whatever’ and wrote about whatever came into my head. And now my blog is my baby 🙂 xx

YES! exactly how I felt. I think it sounds bad if I say I worry about it less now but I think it’s because I care more and it’s so much part of my life now that I have more ideas all the time… Does that make sense? x
