Life Last Month – July

15/08/2018      2 Comments

Guess what. July was another busy month for me. Considering I convince myself I don’t do much, when I look back at my diary for these roundup posts I realise I’ve managed to fit quite a bit in. It’s not been as busy as some other months but still.

gin cocktails

I started the month in style by learning all about the history of gin through cocktails with Fords Gin. I even discovered a few new gin cocktails that I’d never tried before and really enjoyed. Then, I went to London Fields to celebrate the fourth of July at a party thrown by the lovely Regina Kenney.

We took a trip back to Liverpool too and had a really lovely weekend there. The weather was gorgeous and Cece got plenty of time to play in the paddling pool. One of her favourite things to do with Grandad is feeding the fish in his pond. Although she likes to throw the tiny fish food pellets in one at a time!

As usual, I got my hair done in Liverpool and said bye bye to the pink that I’d been sporting for some time. I’m now back to blonde but I can’t see that lasting much longer.

We packed a lot into our Liverpool weekend as we also popped into town to visit VR Here. That was a great morning learning about virtual reality and so much fun too.

The main reason we went to Liverpool though was to celebrate my Uncle John’s birthday. My mum organised a barbecue for him and it was lovely catching up with the family.

Although I’m pretty much anti-fancy dress I got my glad rags on and Charlestoned the night away at an immersive production of The Great Gatsby. I had a lot of fun and maybe dressing up isn’t so bad after all. But I can confirm the 1920s is not my era. As much as I love it. I’m just not built for those fashions. Give me the 40s and 50s any day!

We also went to check out the trampoline park in Islington. Cece loved every minute of it. She preferred running across the rows of trampolines rather than jumping on them but still, we were all shattered by the time we’d finished there.

I only took on one escape room in July. It was a good one though. I wandered down and around the closed South Kentish Town Underground Station. The Lost Passenger was one of the more difficult escape rooms I’ve tackled.

We’ve had a bit of change at work. We’ve moved from our office in Euston to a new, bigger office in Stratford. It’s nice. Spacious and bright and it means I can get the bus to work now instead of fighting to get on the tube. It also means I can go to the gym before work.

Speaking of work, Tom and I took on The Crystal Maze with some of my old (and some current) work colleagues. It was a lot of fun and, in a fight of boys against girls, the girls reigned supreme. We didn’t have to resort to cheating.

I rounded the month off with a very belated birthday celebration with Steph. Her birthday is at the beginning of May but it took us until the end of July to get around to celebrating it. But we celebrated hard to make up for it. I took her to Bottomless Brunch at Bad Egg and we had a great time. The food was lovely and the prosecco was flowing!

All in all, I had a pretty good July. I’m sure that August is lining up to be much quieter. It’ll be nice to spend some time at home. I’ve kind of forgotten what my house looks like.
