I have recently been appointed chief soft furnishings consultant in the update of Hannah’s living room. It is currently a shabby chic, girly haven of pastels and patchwork but with the ever nearing moment of having a boy living there too, she has decided on a bit of a redesign.
I was on hand with my opinions and ideas on colour schemes and themes; offering suggestions on the modern, sleek, grey scheme she had decided to work with. She didn’t want it to become too boyish and industrial plus, she has too much stuff for it to be absolutely minimal and at the end of the day it is her living room too so it’s going to have some bright, colour pop accessories to glamourise it a bit.
This is where I come into my own. We all know about my cushion obsession and it was these exact credentials that bagged me the spot of soft furnishings consultant in the select design team. Once Hannah explained what she wanted I knew the first place I’d be heading for inspiration was The Colour Union.
Zara Siddiqui-Lester is an incredible textile designer and has produced some awesome collections of cushions, poufs, footstools, mirrors, throws, pretty much everything you need to pretty up your pad!
My favourite collection teeters between Urban Chateau and Royal Mail. I think it’s mostly because I love this Masterpiece pouf a bit too much. You can’t help but be enchanted by it.
Coming back to the task in hand though, the Royal Mail collection would be fantastic in Hannah’s updated living room. The bright colours will definitely draw the eye and help along the colour pop she is so keen to capture.
This multi stamp velvet cushion could take pride of place against the dark sofa and offers so many options for other colours to compliment the room.
But this bright pink stamp cushion is such an iconic, classic design on its own that it makes it difficult to choose between the two.
Everything at The Colour Union is colourful and contemporary and will add a slice of bold, edgy design to any space. I love it all! What do you think?
