How to Make Your Home Look Timeless

10/03/2022      1 Comment

*** This is a collaborative post ***

Chances are, you’re well familiar with fast fashion. This is the fashion where new trends are coming up every season, sometimes quicker than this such as every month. These are quick, cheap, and the whole aim is to get consumers to make a purchase ASAP rather than thinking thoroughly about it. This same thing is happening with interior design and home décor.

More and more trends are coming up at a fast rate. Furniture and decorative accents that may be in this year may not be so welcoming next year, and definitely not the year after. So what can you do? A great way to avoid the whole fast-whatever is to stick to timelessness, the classics. So these are some helpful tips for creating a timeless space in your home.

What are the elements of a timeless room?

Timelessness is elegance, sophistication, and its luxury mixed in with practicality. Something that’s timeless is meant to last, it’s made to outlast trends. So what is the key component for creating a timeless space? It’s all about achieving quality materials that don’t fit into trends. These are classic pieces. You can even buy antique ceramics, and they will still appear timeless in any space.

Begin by looking into the symmetry

When it comes to decorating any space, you’re going to need to put symmetry into account. Symmetry is visually pleasing, it’s something that many want to see if their space. Each room needs to achieve a comfortable balance, from the floor all the way to the ceiling. But it’s also important to think of the proportions of the space as well, especially when it comes to furniture. You can’t have symmetry if you have pieces that are overpowering the rest.

Bring in a touch of nature

This can include getting some plants, but you can even go as far as bringing in more natural materials to the space. Think about adding some marble, wood, wicker, stone, jute, bamboo, and cotton into your space. But this should also include natural lighting, make sure all of your windows have suitable curtains that allow for enough sunlight to come into the space. Even if you’re wanting a fancy home upgrade, bringing more sunlight into your home is a free option in doing so.

Don’t be afraid to bring in some trendy elements

There’s nothing wrong with bringing in some trends into your space. While timelessness is important, it’s also important to keep this space a little updated. What’s more important is keeping a nice balance between the two spaces. You can incorporate trendy elements by adding some accent pieces of accessories. This is the best way to keep your space feeling new and fresh. You can do this by adding some unique candles, photos, art, and so much more. But feel free to make it subtle with something small like a punch needle pillowcase.

It’s important to add your personality into your home, since this is your space after all. You can still have a timeless home while still maintaining your personality and your personal preferences. It’s all about balance.
