Everyone loves having friends over for dinner. However, sometimes the dismal state of our dining rooms can put you off inviting people over. Unfortunately, this can make you seem a little bit selfish or even possibly rude, especially if you have been over to others for dinner. Luckily there are a few simple tricks and tips to make your dining room a little more pleasing on the eye, and not all of them have to break the bank. A Statement Rug
Rugs are a great way to enhance the room and give it that more stylish and expensive look and feel without the price tag. If you get one that is big enough to go under the dining table and chairs, that is the best place to put it. A statement rug can be picked up from so many different places, don’t forget all the second-hand stores too. With so many styles and designs to choose from, you are bound to find something that suits your taste and exudes that expensive feel.
Panelling
Panelling, or interior cladding, is another great way to enhance the look of a dining room. The right cladding can totally transform the room. This is relatively easy to install yourself, so there is no need to pay out for a decorator if you don’t want to. If you have a living room diner or a kitchen diner, you can use cladding on one half of the room to make a clear divide. By using panelling, you will give your room a brand new feel. It won’t even look like the same room. In some ways, it can be far superior to painting or wallpaper as it is clearly textured and patterned. Take a look about, and you are bound to find something that suits your style.
Stylish lighting
One way to really bring a room into the modern era is by upgrading the lighting fixtures. It is best to go for lighting that can hang over the middle of the dining table. Pendant lighting which hangs down is great for this. It almost works as a table feature, so you get a double whammy. Alternatively, some well-placed lamps are a good idea if the lighting is not quite directly above the table.

A few beautiful pieces of art hanging on the wall can bring the place alive. Not only do they give a focus place for the eye, but they can add some colour and style. They can even mo=ake the place look like an interior designer has helped you.

New Dining sets are a must to make the home appear modern and stylish if your budget allows. Alternatively, why not think a little more creatively. You can easily paint tired looking wooden chairs and reupholster any material. You can literally choose any colour or pattern you like. New fabric is a great way to enhance the look of your dining room. Perhaps you could even find something that goes what that new rug. The choice is yours.
