Festival blues need not be an issue this year if you grab yourself a wristband for Hackney Wonderland on 15th and 16th October.
Following the success of last year’s sold out festival, they have expanded the fun to cover two days. The first wave of acts has just been announced and includes We Are Scientists, Swim Deep, Lucy Rose, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Stealing Sheep, Hooton Tennis Club, Crocodiles, Is Tropical, Jake Isaac, Demob Happy, Syd Arthur, Misty Miller and The Shimmer Band.
Headliners California’s Keith Murray and Chris Cain aka We Are Scientists, might humbly only describe themselves as “a rock band”, but after five albums, including this year’s Helter Seltzer, they’ve developed a loyal following and reputation for giving out of the ordinary interviews, and explosive live shows. Birmingham five-piece Swim Deep co-headline the bill fresh from their North American tour with The 1975. Described by NME as “a great big bolt of pop that’s impossible to ignore”, Swim Deep are a must-see set for any discerning music fan in London.
Despite being less than three years old Hackney Wonderland are already making waves as London’s best indoor festival, with inventive and considered programming and a ticket price that won’t break the bank. It’s spread across five indoor East London venues, so you don’t need to worry about the weather, and promises to be an intimate who’s-who showcase of up and coming talent and stalwarts of the scene. With a one day pass wristband granting access to all five venues’ line up across each day. Pick up a wristband now for the early bird price of £20 plus booking fee.
I know I’m excited for this one. See you there, yeah?
