Video of the week : Grimes – Kill V. Maim

Grimes released her new video today and, my word, it’s a bit crazy. I bloody love it. The song and the video are both incredible and she is just so ridiculously cool.

Kill V. Maim is from her fourth album, Art Angels. It was directed by Claire and Mac Boucher and was shot in Toronto.

Grimes is performing at Coachella this year and will open for Florence & The Machine in the U.S. this spring. Then she’s hitting European shores with her AC!D Reign headline tour. The tour begins in Berlin and hits major venues in Oslo, Stockholm, Paris and more, culminating in seven UK dates including a landmark London date at Brixton’s O2 Academy.

If you saw any of the 2015 end of year lists, Art Angels was probably on there. It was given number 1 spots by NME, Crack and Stereogum to name but a few. The Observer called the album ‘strikingly original, a kaleidoscopically minded Grimes-authored record’. NME said, ‘Not just a pop star, but perhaps the coolest musician on the planet’ (I couldn’t agree with this one more!) and The Telegraph titled it ‘a fearless and fascinating record’.

If that’s not enough to encourage you to dig it out, if you haven’t already, iTunes named it their #1 Indie Album of 2015.

What do you think of the video? Are you a Grimes fan? Let me know in the comments.

Kisses,

lojo
